Coachella Dreaming

April 20, 2015

Coachella Valley and Arts Music festival attracts masses of people every year with its variety of music acts and creative artworks. If I had to try and compare Cochella’s vibe to a South African setting I would say that it is a mixture of AfrikaBurn and Rocking the Daisies where art in different forms meets amazing local and international music acts in a variety of genres. One cannot speak of Coachella without acknowledging the display of fashion by it’s patrons and its not abnormal to see celebrities like models and actors in attendance.

This year many well known artists took the Coachella stage for the first time along with other known desert veterans. AC/DC’s return after five years was a notable performance along with Florence & The Machine’s first big performance of the year. Tame Impala had a notable live performance and Madonna got extremely personal with Drake during his closing set.

The two weekend festival allows people to experience it all. Coachella is also know for it’s elaborate installations and this year also featured performance art. These art pieces aren’t only ascetically appealing but also look at social issues which face society. Coachella is a artisic hub with creativity all around, from the music to the art and even the clothing.

All though the queen of Coachella, Vanessa Hudgens didn’t feature this year, plenty of other celebrities came out dressed in indie, boho chic ready to enjoy the music. The much talked about Kardashian family weren’t in attendance but their younger sisters – Kylie and Kendall were. Models such as Gigi Hadid, Jasmine Tookes and Shanina Shaik owned festival style with bright colours, interesting textures and amazing accessories, showing a different, more personal side of them as we are used to seeing them on runways and in photoshoots. Coachella is definitely a place to get some great summer style inspiration.

Every year the line up for Coachella doesn’t seem to disappoint and it makes it that much more difficult for those of us who can’t attend to deal with the FOMO. One day Coachella, one day.
