A short 3 hours from Johannesburg, Mauritius is an amazing destination for South Africans and internationals alike. I took a direct flight from Johannesburg with South African Airways – and I was incredibly impressed with their service at the airport and their hospitality en route. You can book SAA flights to Mauritius here.
I stayed at the beautiful Merville Beach Hotel – and I honestly could not recommend it enough. The resort has it all, from beautiful private beaches, to amazing food, exciting water sports and a curated programme of available activities. Hop on their website (http://www.mervillebeach.com/) for bookings and more information!
The General area in which I stayed was Grand Baie in the Rivere Du Rempant district of Mauritius. This area is far north of the island and offers great beaches, nightlife and shopping.
I had the most incredible time and as I went on holiday with the primary focus of relaxing. If you’re keen on an island getaway that isn’t too far away but feels worlds away – wholeheartedly recommend Mauritius. Mauritius tourism South Africa has some great offers and a chance to win a trip to Mauritius to escape the winter! Have a peek at their website here.
If you’re keen on seeing the day to day details of what I got up to on my trip, I posted on Instagram almost daily while I was away so feel free to have a scroll here.
Here’s to travel and memories!
