Music Mondays : Jason Mraz (Live!)

March 2, 2015

Last night, my family and I had the amazing privilege of attending Jason Mraz and Raining Jane, live in concert. Jason Mraz has been ontop of my “live concert bucket list” for the last 6 years. With 5 studio albums, 2 Grammy awards and multiple successful world tours – I knew this performance would be out of this world. And out of this world – it was. Teaming up with the lovely ladies from Raining Jane, Jason delivered multifaceted show.

Flawless vocals, a myriad of instruments, unusual harmonies, a subtle musical dialogue around environmental issues and the most captivating stage presence I’ve witnessed in my entire life. They performed crowd favourites from his solo albums such as “I’m yours, “Lucky” and “I won’t give up”, but truly stole my heart with quirky older songs like “Dynamo of Volition”, “The Remedy” and “Mr Curiosity”

As his latest album and this tour are both in collaboration with Raining Jane, they performed some of their newer songs that have been growing rapidly in popularity such as “Love Someone”, “Back to the Earth and my personal stand out, “Shine”.

My only complaint is that this concert wasn’t longer. I thought I would miss the Jazzy elements from his live performances affiliated with Toca Rivera (Jason’s “brother by choice’) on the album “We sing. We dance. We steal things” but the sheer energy from Raining Jane and the excitement of being captivated by artists with such clear,
positive intent distracted me.

Undeniably humble, undeniably sincere and undeniably talented.

Thank you Jason, for living up to my expectations, I’ve had awhile to form them.

I posted some clips on instagram of some of last night’s performance, if you’d like to check them out, my instagram username is @raymohamed

Here are some links to my absolute favourite Jason Mraz live performances, that resulted in said high expectations (is it weird that I think he’s slightly better live?)
