Rocking the Daisies is quite easily our favorite music festival, and this year’s 10th edition didn’t disappoint.
From the first to the fourth of October over 180 acts including 10 top international acts including The Kooks, Milky Chance, The Cat Empire, Crookers, Scuba, and Thomas Jack descended upon the Cloof wine estate outside darling.
Along with the acts 22 000 fans came out to celebrate a decade of daisies. We were especially impressed by the improvements and expansions made by the organizers including new stages, expanded camping areas and easier entrance through the festival gates.
Of course the biggest draw-card to any big music festival are the international acts – and the main stage at Rocking the Daisies we was graced by the presence of 3 top notch bands -that I just so happen to love. The Cat Empire – a Australian ska band that has been in the business for over 15 years, Milky Chance – a German electronic folk duo and The Kooks – a much loved and respected indie band from the UK.
I was over the moon with these headliners, having been part of the “Bring the Cat Empire to South Africa” project on various social media platforms for the last few years – it was great to see the folks over at seed experiences tapping into that demand to make it happen.
Milky Chance was no different, they were highly requested on the Rocking the Daisies facebook page and yet again, they managed to book them to keep the fans happy and excited. Having seen the Kooks on their trip to South Africa in 2013 I was keen to experience their updated act with some new material which was incredible, as expected.
Besides the main stage we spent most of the day time at the beach bar where deep house blew us away, and the electro dome which was such fun, and pumped until the early hours of the morning.
A huge congratulations to seed experiences for another great festival, its safe to say I absolutely cannot wait for the next one
